Loved ones can pull focus harder than strangers. A parent, a partner, a friend in the passenger seat often means well and still turns the drive into stress. You naturally start driving for their expectations instead of for the road. Eyes watching you. Comments like, “It’s easy.” “You’re going too slow.” “Why didn’t you go?” That is social pressure sitting on top of a 2000 kg machine, and the body feels it.

We treat all of this as one of the required skills. Sometimes the kindest first step is you and me and nobody else. When energy spikes because someone you care about is judging your performance, that is a important piece to deconstruct. We name it. We take that piece apart. The big game is still I can drive — not I can please the person beside me.
